  • What's your Thanksgiving menu?

We always do a mix of Indian cooking (remembering the old country) and traditional American Thanksgiving fare.

So, in addition to a full Indian spread, we plan to have mashed potatoes, baked bean casserole, corn bread, vegetarian stuffing, cranberry sauce, and 3 pies - apple, pumpkin and bluberry.

Being vegetarian, basically everything but the turkey :)

I was raised a Hindu vegetarian and while I am not religious as an adult, I have not felt the need to change my diet. The basic philosophy is to not harm any other living thing which is a concept that appeals to me.

hahaha. we're pakistani and our religious holiday is friday. some people in our family tried to combine the two holidays but the majority of us wanted 2 seperate days.

thanksgiving is the only holiday were we cook all-american food. 2 fried turkeys, homemade everything (mashed potatoes, cornbread, stuffing, gravy, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce) and then the dessert menu is also all homemade (brownies, cupcakes, cookies, pies, custard).

the friday after (black friday) is a holiday called Eid. it's a holiday where we sacrifice a lamb in the name of god and eat it ( :dunno: ). anyway, we're going to have lamb and beef and chicken. all meat, all day.

i can not wait. maybe i'll share some pictures or something. :P

We are having appetizers, turkey, sausage/cornbread stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, some type of salad and green, and fruit salad. Not sure what we'll have for dessert.

Yeah, can't wait for tomorrow to roll around. I am in charge of all the baking - I love to bake! 3 pies, corn bread and banana bread too!! My wife is planning to do the mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and all the Indian food. The main course will be a brown basmati rice pilaf. Mmmm.... :staypuff:

And oh yeah, baked sweet potatoes and loads of ice cream.... :)

We're going to have Appetizers, Basmati rice, Halal turkey, Afghan bread, mixed vegetables, and some other odds and ends that my grandmother will make.
