  • Replacing vavle cover gasket?

Now I know very little about cars and I can't afford for my car to be not running for more than a half a day or so. Is this something simple that I could do if I got the Hayne repair manual for my car? or is the risk much higher than the reward and I should have a professional do it?

What kind of car is it? it's pretty simple for most cars and most mechanics won't charge more than 50 bucks to replace it.

2001 Chevy Tracker. I can't find the estimate papers they gave me a while back but I remember it was going to cost at least $100 but I think it was closer to $200 with labor. I go to this place for all my repairs and I am happy with them. I am just trying to learn to do a little more here and there on my own.

I used to work in a shop and have done a bunch of these. You should be able to do it pretty easy with a manual.

Get a Bentley manual and do it yourself. Should be easy.

Do you have the 4 or 6 cylinder engine?

Ok it should be very easy, there are about 8 screws and a few vacum hoses to take apart but the most important thing is keeping the engine covered so you wont drop any screws or debris while you are scraping the old gasket pieces.

That's the 2.0 if it makes a difference.
