Just a move by the celebrity president to raise his approval. I have yet to witness any government program that was run efficiently, they are all money pits with certain people getting rich while the taxpayers foot the bill.
Medicade is a fucking joke, and medicare part D is as well. -
from what i've read and understood there are a few things that are "important" in this bill:
1) all healthcare would remain being owned privately but they would need to meet federal guidelines in order to remain in business.
2) most US citizens will be required to purchase healthcare insurance or face penalties and families with incomes lower than $88,000 will be given some sort of a subsidy.
3) this bill is "supposedly" reported to reduce our deficit by "$130 billion over a decade" because the funding would mostly come from either A) those individuals with an income of more than $500,000 or families with a combined of more than $1 million in the form of income tax surcharges or B) higher "Medicare payroll taxes on high wage-earners and a new tax on high-cost insurance policies"
4) premiums can either go up or down depending on where you fall on the income stratum.
most of the details are still to be decided on because the House and the Senate have their own ideas about it, but that's all i've gathered.
