you see my point? this is about the love of the car. not what can be done to it in the after market.
I see your point but you don't see mine. If a little mom and pop shop can come up with a 900hp engine why shouldn't Porsche? That article sounded like Porsche achived something that is not possible.

why shouldnt porsche just make the car have 1500HP? or maybe 2000?

you really think that 900HP porsche is as much of a drivers car as the one that comes from Porsche? come on bro. its about making the car all tie together with as much perfection as possible. handling, power etc.. its not a drag racer bro, its a proper drivers car.

this shows exactly what we are talking about here. when you take a great car and think you can make it better by putting an atom bomb under the hood.. check this out.. YouTube - Top Gear - meets turbo charged Mercedes Brabus SL - BBC

What I smile about is; and excuse me if I am wrong is how most people who say only 400HP or only 500HP usually have never even came close to experiencing that kind of power never mind the monstrous amounts torque that come with something pushing over the 500 HP barrier; and even if you drive a diesel truck with 600 hp and 1200 ft lbs of torque the docile introduction on a diesel compared to the violent combustion of a gas engine is day and night; never mind the fact that this 500hp is in a 3000 lb car. I remember when my friend and I took out his fathers Porsche after school and when you punched that thing it gave you a whole new perspective on power; how fast you could accelerate was unbelievable; and how quickly you could make a fatal decision with that much power pushing those rear wheels was even quicker.

I have drove a 850 HP car and the power is sickening I mean quarter throttle at 50-60 MPH and your tires are up in smoke.

and i bet that 850 car couldnt beat a stock M3 around a track.

same goes for something like a bugatti. massive power and straight line speed but put it on a track and its slower then cars with 300-400HP less.

I know how it feels drive a 500hp car car because I have driven a few of them and both of you guys are making valid points about how a car should be put together exactly and that porsche could achive the same performance numbers @300, 400 or 500hp there is no point of giving that much of a HP to it but as a porsche if you gonna brag about your HP output you should come up with something that beats the small after market shop upgrades. :D

i am sure you could make the bugatti more powerful with some after market garbage. so why brag about the buggati?

Exactly, it was useless power other than just the show and sound of it.

                      That's for damn true bro!

strongest I was in was a hennesy venom viper - and that thing fucking raged, I couldn't believe the pull on it. What Konitz said is spot on too, with the amount of power we are talking about here comes an immense amount of responsibility - you can fuck around with a car 300-400hp and normally it's not going to get out of hand. But unless you have training, and you get in one of these cars that are pushing 500+ hp and rocking track times, you will crash it, just a matter of time. I did it when I was 16 and I'm just glad the damage was minimal.

take a look @ the 911 turbo upgrades that are around 10-20g's and look @ the power that they boast number wise. The 911 turbo doesn't need to brag 800hp stock because stock it's better, faster, and more reliable than any street car pushing what it claims to be dynod at.
