They had over 6,000 successful runs prior to the actual Olympics so I guess they felt it was safe while remaining incredibly difficult.

I feel bad about what happened, BUT keep in mind this track has been used safely before...the guy messed up...it was driver error. It's a shame they're going to alter the course to slow it down by 10km/h or so, because the best lugers in the world WANT to hit 100mph...they are capable of negotiating the course at that speed. Unfortunately, the guys who aren't that good can't...I think rather than slowing the courses down, they need to make qualifying more difficult; a smaller field of better athletes would be preferable.

He messed up on a couple of earlier turns, ended up too high and the G forces on him prevented him from being able to correct. I think the track was altered to appease everyone, but I myself want to see them go faster.

Now they are going to make all the track's pussy; Did you hear that one competitor he was all pissed about the speeds and he said well we could get alot better runs if we didn't have to start off at the old ladies section, priceless.

If they wanna run that speed let them run it. The olmpic Organizers said this increase in speed is over and will never be hit again.
