  • Report: Rumors swirl about possible demise of USF1 team

    :bawl::bawl::bawl:

    A recent report out of Spain suggests that the USF1 team won't make it to the starting grid in Bahrain and that the team's chances of making it to the next two races are in question, putting the entire season in jeopardy. To make matters worse, rumors are circulating that one of the team's principle backers – YouTube founder Chad Hurley – has pulled his support from the Formula One upstart and that Brian Bonner, a former IndyCar driver and the team's head of business development, is no longer working for the firm, taking a co-director position at B4 Marketing.

    It's been some time since we've heard any word from the team, beyond the announcement that Argentinian touring car driver Jose Maria Lopez has been tapped to handle driving duties. The lack of a second driver, along with rumblings that former YouTuber Hurley is considering backing the Campos team or Stefan GP. To muddy the waters further, the USF1's headquarters are up for sale, suggesting something's rotten in Charlotte, and validating Bernie Eccelstone's earlier predictions about the team's troubles. Thanks for the tip Adam.

      well thats a massive missed opportunity for those backers, F1 is ridiculousness expensive but with a new American team coming in the backer could have surely raked in the marketing benefits.

      This is what I love about F1, even with all the safety standards now its one of the most dangerous sports, Ayrton Senna was paid high money but one split second mistake he was dead! Those guys earn their pay no doubt;

                lol, none of the team leaders at usf1 had anything to do with nascar or indy dipshit. Peter Windsor isnt even an american, he is british..

                they quit not because they are lazy but because the main sponsor backed out. they simply ran out of money. if you want to call someone a quitter call the founder of you tube the quitter since he is the one that gave up on them.

                hint: half the indy car schedule takes place on proper tracks. the other half is the shitty oval races.
