Well homie this just proves that your car knowledge stops right on the sheet metal. you obviously have no clue about what it takes to make a race car. You think 600hp R8 is a great car but in reality 850hp nascar stock car will run circles around that R8 or you think 1000hp Bugati is bad ass but you make fun of 8000hp dragster. Do you even have any clue what it takes to pull out 8000hp from a V8 engine or what kind of technology is behind it?Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postyou posted a nascar video and a dragster video and you want me to take you seriously when you talk about proper cars? lol

How many Japanese cars can you point out with over 800hp and can be driven daily? or how many European or Japanese engines can you show me that can produce 8000hp?
When you can show me import engine that can produce eight fucking thousand horse power come back and talk to me about your precious imports but until then I'm done talking cars with you.:weights::weights:

cars back then were rated SAE horsepower which meant in laymens the horsepower rating at the crankshaft without the parasitic losses due to transmission and driveline drag etc.todays modern cars are rated NET which is the rating at the point of contact with the dyno often called RWP (rear wheel horspower).the 370 if it were rated SAE would be around 360 -370 SAE at the crank while the 409 if were to be rated net would be below the 400 mark. if we throw in beefy tires of the modern vs the more skinny biasply of the old car one can see how the 370 would be more than a match for the 409 chevy. :)Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postmid thirteen?
my 370 with 333 HP does better then that stock.
thats my point about old ass cars. they claim all this horse power but they were slow. :agreed:

Sorry to rain on your parade but cars HP are still measured at the crankshaft if the were telling you the horsepower at the tires it would be WHP the 370Z makes 258 whp. The DZ302 made 428 HP so figure average parasitic loss (25%) so the 69 Camaro made 321WHP.Originally posted by buell View Postcars back then were rated SAE horsepower which meant in laymens the horsepower rating at the crankshaft without the parasitic losses due to transmission and driveline drag etc.todays modern cars are rated NET which is the rating at the point of contact with the dyno often called RWP (rear wheel horspower).the 370 if it were rated SAE would be around 360 -370 SAE at the crank while the 409 if were to be rated net would be below the 400 mark. if we throw in beefy tires of the modern vs the more skinny biasply of the old car one can see how the 370 would be more than a match for the 409 chevy. :)
370Z Curb weight- 3250, Power to Weight ratio= .07938 HP/Lb
69 Camaro Curb weight- 3120, Power to Weight ratio= .10288 HP/Lb

we are talking about modern day proper road cars VS old souped up muscle cars, and you start posting videos of nascar and dragsters. thus my point about, "why not just start posting jet engine cars etc..

to make them go on a road course you had to put tons and tons of work into it to even make it ok on a proper track. any muscle car stock would do no such thing. thats my point about the heart or soul of the car. it was not built for the track. it was built to race the 1/4 mile.Originally posted by Konitz View PostYour saying muscle car's were only straight line machines when in reality some of them were dominant road course cars. and what was the stock 69 camaro 0-60 and 1/4 mile time? i dont want the souped up version i want the stock just like you are showing the stock numbers for the 370 above.. obviously, i could change that power to weight ratio of the 370 very easily by putting on a cold air intake and new exhaust system..Originally posted by Konitz View Post

none the less my 370 completely stock will do 0 to 60 In 4.6 sec. and the Quarter Mile in 13.1 sec. at 106.7 MPHLast edited by Bouncer; 03-04-10, 11:26 AM.

nah bro, cars are all rated the same today. 333 hp rating for the 370z is not at the wheels.Originally posted by buell View Postcars back then were rated SAE horsepower which meant in laymens the horsepower rating at the crankshaft without the parasitic losses due to transmission and driveline drag etc.todays modern cars are rated NET which is the rating at the point of contact with the dyno often called RWP (rear wheel horspower).the 370 if it were rated SAE would be around 360 -370 SAE at the crank while the 409 if were to be rated net would be below the 400 mark. if we throw in beefy tires of the modern vs the more skinny biasply of the old car one can see how the 370 would be more than a match for the 409 chevy. :)

That is the stock camaro ratings; The zz302 was listed at something like 225 HP but that just for safety standards when dyno'd the engines produced well over 400 hp and held power to 7,000 rpm's.
And you gave me just what I wanted. I'm done debating.

you can quit the debate all you want. fact is you didnt give me the real 1/4 mile time nor did you give me the 0-60..Originally posted by Konitz View PostThat is the stock camaro ratings; The zz302 was listed at something like 225 HP but that just for safety standards when dyno'd the engines produced well over 400 hp and held power to 7,000 rpm's.

and that is just the straight line discussion.
if you think that stock 69 camaro can compare in any way shape or form around a proper track with the 370 you have lost your marbles.
