Is this economy going to start to kill unions?

A lot of big companies in my area that are in the construction industry are not renewing their contracts with the laborer and operator's unions. Just seeing what people's thoughts are.

Corporate America runs the Unions. The Unions have been sleeping with the 'enemy' for decades. I'm in the IBEW Local 824 and they let the company I consult for walk all over their employees. They are already back logged with 3,000 grievances that have not even made it to 3rd step since January!

It's all about the almighty dollar not the consumer and not the workers.

I'm torn over the whole thing. The 'old gaurd' Unions established the pay scales and benefits but that was then andthis is now. Things have changed drastically. They principles of old don't exist anymore.

I have to agree with you, from my experience of being a union member for eight years at one time.
