Police: Westfield man dies in kayaking accident - Examiner.com

Anyone else do whitewater sports? I do a canoe river race once a year and this always crosses my mind.

My wife and I kayak a lot. We have two Tarpon 120 sit on tops and do mostly lakes and rivers with a little ocean trip here and there.

They're quite a bit different than the sit-in types made for white water. Sounds like he flipped and couldn't roll himself.

Probably that or he hit his head on a rock and just drowned because he was unconscious.

I have seen a lot of people go kayaking in the Potomic River. It look like a blast, but dangerous because at some parts its deadly sharp rocks with fast current.

That white water kayaking looks fun as hell but dangerous as hell as well. Takes big balls and a lot of experience to navigate those waters.
