Dating isn't allowed because there is a social constuct that says that if young people date it leads to impure thoughts and urges and eventually premarital sex which is wrong. A girl I met a year ago in school became friends with my girl, her parents had met this older guy and I guess thought he was ok, they were allowed to talk on the phone, but they also saw each other on the side secretly.
