Just like any theist, they will claim "that's not a true *insert faith*" also known as the no true scottsman fallacy. Instead of people of faith trying to control their image, they just try to disassociate with those they don't agree with.

I think if any kind of group does something you don't like. Go get a sign and say "*insert faith*, put a bunch of arrows pointing off it and go stand in the crowd. Generalize them all as exactly who they claim to be and then lets see how quiet those of similar faiths just sit by and try to pretend it's not a product of their faith.
