okay, I'm with you now. I don't really see why it bothers you with any of what you have said, but if it does, it does. I will say it's hard for anyone to know what someone is truly like period, especially someone like arnold. So to say he's not genuine (if im understanding you correctly) and is just a showman , well to me he is a genuine showman. And I feel he's found how to achieve and gone with it. those are stories made up by the DIRECTOR to add spice to what the DIRECTOR thought would be a boring story of just bodybuilders in a gym. sure Arnold went along with the idea and probably even enjoyed telling the stories.

you have to understand, they had no clear idea what pumping iron was going to be. they were trying all kinds of ideas like that little skinny guy that they eventually cut out of the film.

the higher pitch story was pure comedy and it was funny. the whole "pump is like cumming" thing, well anyone that believed that is a dumb ass.. thats your problem not his.
