Cliff Notes:
4th place: Dodge Challenger SE
A yacht trying to keep up with speedboats, but the ride and style are smooth.
3rd place: Chevrolet Camaro RS
A quick coupe whose weight sacrifices fun and cartoonish cabin compromises comfort.
2nd place: Ford Mustang V-6
New 3.7 is nearly as quick as last year's 4.6-liter V-8, and more fun to drive, too.
1st place: Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Track
The only one that looks and feels like a sports car. Surprise, we liked it best.

Sorry I disagree, and bouncer don't start with a you are a mustang fan stuff I'm only going to point out what they said in the article. and I'm not even going to bother with camaro and challenger
Mustang is lighter, faster, stops shorter, pulls higher G except the figure 8 test, and their own words six-speed manual, which delighted every editor with its fluid movement and pinpoint precision. "Shifter feels great -- the action is nice and crisp," also... they call it an all-out performance coupe. "Handling is very impressive," says Loh. "This is a car you can have complete confidence in.
Now the genensis...heavier, slower, stops longer, pulls less G except the figure 8 test and they said the steering, a wee bit artificial in feel for our taste.
So how can genesis be more sporty? because you can see outside better? and you sit lower.
imo mustang lost the comparo because of the shitty interior not because of the driving dynamics.
and by the way if you ask me which car I'd buy? I'm buying the genesis just because it has a kick ass interior compared to mustang and performance is so close that you can't tell the difference in real world driving.

if you are going to point out what they said in the article why do you choose to leave things out?
"ORIGIN OF GREATNESS
But then St. Antoine drove the Genesis. After which, he had this to say: "Yeow! Really impressive, with quick turn-in, flat cornering, lots of grip, good balance. Have to rank it the best handler." He was not alone. Martinez says, "The 3.8-liter is the best sounding of the V-6 bunch. It's responsive and revs quickly." Loh sums up: "The Genesis feels milled from a solid billet of aluminum alloy. It has that feeling of lightness and stiffness that just makes everything else seem to work better -- from the way the steering feels to the way the chassis responds to bumps to the way the powertrain puts the power down. Sure, the Mustang may make the value proposition, but for the extra bit of dough, I'd rather have the Genesis. It's just more fun to drive." That, in a nutshell, was what pushed the Hyundai ahead of the new Ford."Last edited by Bouncer; 04-12-10, 05:32 PM.

beast, i think you would agree that sometimes it about what a car does and feels on the road and the track, some times the stats and statistics dont tell the whole story.
there is a reason the genesis won in the figure 8 test. a test that combines power, stability, handling etc..

And they did all that with Mustang too. You have to read between the lines, after telling me that steering feels artificial they turn around and say all that stuff. Sorry not buying it.
If you make a list of say five things from braking to handling they didn't find one fault with mustang but they did with genesis(steering feel) so imo by one fault genesis looses.
I know they had to pick a winner and I know they had to split hairs to pick one but like I said mustang should've lost it because of interior not because of sportiness.

I'm not buying that a car can be all that with an artificial steering feel, and the person who said that was the same pro reviewer that drove all the cars and didn't say any bad things about the mustang's steering.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postlol, not buying what? what the actual drivers of the car said? sorry bro you are a fan boy of it and it shows.

I knew you were going in to go in to the fan boy crap and that is why in the beginning I said "Bouncer don't start with that" you can change the names of the cars to anything you like and my opinion will not change.

this is the bottom line.Originally posted by wnabeabeast View PostI'm not buying that a car can be all that with an artificial steering feel, and the person who said that was the same pro reviewer that drove all the cars and didn't say any bad things about the mustang's steering.

The Genesis got first place according to Car and Driver.
The genesis had the best time in the figure 8 test. (A test that combines the steering, grip, power, etc..)
The drivers of the cars agreed the genesis is the one they would buy and even be willing to pay more for to get it.
Those are the facts, you can argue all you want but at the end of the day the best overall drivers car and the only car that felt like a true sports car is teh Genesis coupe.

funny that you "buy" the artificial steering comment but dont buy this..Originally posted by wnabeabeast View Post^^^
Nope I disagree. Genesis maybe the driver's car but mustang is an all out performance coupe(motortrends words) so your driver's car beats the all out performance car with an artificial steering?
I don't think so yo! :D

the reason why you buy the negative and dont buy the positive comments is because you are a fanboy.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
* According to Edmunds.com G37 Comparison Test, Hyundai Genesis Coupe V6 beats out Infiniti G37 by overall score.
* According to Popular Mechanics G37 Comparison review, "..the extra $10,000 on the price tag of the Infiniti doesn’t seem quite worth it."
* Aaron Robinson of Car and Driver wrote "the Genesis coupe is a revelation, no pun intended…a serious kink in the law dictating that rear-drive hoots must cost big bucks." Reviewer Barry Winfield called "unexpectedly hard core," while Jonathon R. Ramsey praised the car's "intense looks, excellent dynamics, superb braking, and braceable seats."
* According to Motor trend review,"Obviously, Hyundai has much to be proud of with its first rear-drive sport coupe. The value is unbeatable. The quality is tip-top. The road manners are respectable. The styling, with its unique Z-shaped character line and drop-beltline rear window, is standout." And Genesis Coupe listed as 'Worth Waiting For' by Motor Trend.
* According to The Truth About Cars review, "...The biggest surprise in this entire package: the Genesis Coupe’s steering. While the Europeans seem to favor lighter and lighter steering feel (to disguise their model’s increasingly obese if safety-oriented curb weight), the Genesis feels perfectly weighted and precise. BMW’s M3—yes, that one—should take lessons from the Genesis Coupe’s steering rack. It serves-up Porsche-level feel, with just a tad less precision."
* According to Canadian Auto Press review, "...This is an impressive performance coupe, as good at its sporting purpose as the Genesis sedan is at sport-luxury... i.e. very, very good. At top-speed, or somewhere near it, it feels totally planted.[...] Perfect... this car makes a good driver feel like a pro."
* According to AutoSpies.com review, "My advice to all the AutoSpies.com faithful... If I was looking at the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger, I'd buy the Genesis Coupe. The Camaro and Challenger are better looking but as I said earlier, I like the driving position of the GC (Genesis Coupe), Z, G and 3 better, so I feel more comfortable driving that style of car and the GC is the better daily driver. Plus it has a 10 year warranty and they will probably be in business then."
* According to The Detroit Bureau review, "Genesis Coupe is still a surprisingly affordable product, but this time, that’s not an excuse for all sorts of cut corners. The compromises are minimal and, if anything, the car delivers the sort of features, handling, performance and package we’d expect from a significantly more expensive automobile. Don’t be surprised to start seeing a lot of them on the road – and on the track."Last edited by Bouncer; 04-12-10, 09:55 PM.
