  • Kimbo's UFC run is done

UFC president Dana White laid down the challenge to Internet phenom Kimbo Slice and the street fighter accepted it. Kimbo made it through his stint on Season 10 of "The Ultimate Fighter" and got two more fights with the promotion.

Slice went 1-1 in the UFC after the reality show, including a bad loss Saturday night at UFC 113 against Matt Mitrione. The fight was so one-sided, the UFC president decided to give Kimbo, 36, his pink slip.

"That's probably Kimbo's last fight in the UFC," White said. "Listen, Kimbo made it farther than I thought he would."

As White was exiting the press conference for a postfight television interview, he was asked one more time about Kimbo's future. A reporter pushed him on the "probably" in his original Kimbo quote. White then confirmed definitively that Slice was gone.

No suprise, it was a mistake for him to go ufc but respect for him trying. That fight was touch to watch he was getting busted up over and over and it looked as if mitione could finish him any time he wanted, those bamby legs of kimbos are pathetic and he looked like a newborn lamb trying to stand up. Better for him to go some place else, better for him he never came

yea he was out of his element in the ever changing sport. in the early days of dan sevren and tank abbott and don fry to name a few he might have stood out but the game has changed so much and those who dont have a rounded game can no longer count on the sluggers odds...kimbo if u read this bouncer made me post it.:)

He made 10k a fight in the streets; nearly 750k in his two EliteXC fights and maybe 100-150k for his 2 ufc fights. I wouldn't mind making that kind of mistake. :)

I give him credit as well, but you can't even begin to compare his skills to Severn or Fry. They were both very accomplished wrestlers and successful brawlers back during the tournament style and no rules UFC era. Either one of them would have made him suffer badly.

i agree that yes he did become more rounded as it became evident the need to do so but in all honesty sevren would have smotherd him and fry and abbott would turned his clock to nap time PDQ..kimbo if u read this jac tors made me post it.:)

You miss the point, read my post again I'm saying his mistake was going to ufc, but I respect him for it. They were taking care of him at Elite, if he'd stayed outside ufc he coulda rode his notoriety and picked fights and made more money. I don't really see where he goes from here, his whole attraction isn't there now, he's been done by no names.

He's more rounded than tank I'll give you that but nowhere near Fry and Severn, they are past it now though

You have to give the guy credit for trying.

I see what you are saying but I still don't agree. EliteXC lost their ass when he lost to Petruzelli. Taking advantage of his opportunity for Ultimate Fighter and UFC gave him access to the best training camps out there. He beat Houston Alexander who was hot for a minute and lost to Mitrione who has a promising career in mma. They may not be the biggest names, but they are names in the biggest mma organization. He will go to Strikeforce now and fight that's a no brainer. Losing record or not, they will take him.
