  • Anyone good with vid camera recording/disk formating

I have some small dvd disks that we recorded much of our honeymoon on from a sony camera (borrowed). thing is they won't play on my laptop it simply doesn't pick up that there is anything on the disk, yet when I check the properties it confirms that there is no free space left.

yeah I read that lol, thing is we don't have the original camera lol, it may be that I didn't finalize them (the didsk with the original camera) or format them. The info is on there somewhere though thats whats frustrating. We only just found them again as they been lost for 3 1/2 years. the lady is gonna take them into a photo editing place and failing that go to an electrical store and try the vid cameras, if it works in them like it worked in the original then she'll buy it on ebay

Any camera specific type shop should be able to open them and do what you need with them.

if you don't finalize them it won't set them in a way that you can play the videos. with the crappy camera we have when you finalize the disk all you can do it watch them and not edit them.

What required disk formatting? If you tried to open it with VLC, and then it stated that you needed to reformat the disc, you should of pressed CANCEL. Reformat equals erase.
