  • Android users?

Are any of you android users?

Decided that I miss my smart phone, either going to get an iPhone 3GS (which I've had) or the new Samsung Captivate. The screen on the samsung is amazing, but it won't integrate as easily with my iMac and iPad, but I don't want to create this fucking iworld around myself. I think a change would be nice, I just am going to have to learn a new OS and learn how to sync all my stuff.

I can get the iPhone cheaper, and they make tons of cases for it, so it would also go back to being my main ipod for gym and bike, and I could retire my shuffle.

On the other hand, I could just use the shuffle for the gym, and keep the captivate as just being my phone. I am not opposed to taking the captivate to the gym, it is just a little bit larger and they haven't made a ton of cases yet.

I like that Samsung. I am allowed to upgrade in about a month or so and not sure what to get. I kind of don't want an iphone because it just doesn't seem to fit my. Magdalena has an itouch and I don't think I would like a phone like that. Droid seems huge since I like to carry my phone in my pocket and unless I'm really impressed with a newer blackberry, I'm not to excited about that either.

It seems that if I wait a year all the phones will be android and there will be a huge variety in selection.

Wait until Christmas to see what else comes out. I just can't decide, android seems like a lot of fun, but the phone seems more fragile to me.

i am planning on the captivate as my next phone in the next year or so when prices drop and they are sold unlocked. the newer phones feel fragile because they can do so much and the big screen make it seem delicate. but i am a fan of the new droid for verizon (forgot the exact one but it's the one that is just a giant slate). but i would say skip the iphone. another thing is that most phone are easy to sync with macs.

I'm pretty new to Android OS' and so far I can't say anything bad about it. It's more stable and easier to use than windows based systems.

One example, setting up a print network on windows even if you have done it 1000 times before can sometimes be a hassle (windows just doesn't cooperate); especially if it's different os'. But using the print share with android every printer that I wanted to use on a network it connected successfully and printed with out any hassle. This is a big deal for me because I interface with numerous private networks daily.

And I know you don't think flash capability is a big deal or 'game changer', but considering the largest majority of video content (movies and tv shows in particular)are in flash, I think it's an important feature and fortunately Android supports it.

As I said, I still new to the os' but I'm happy with it thus far.

I have been doing research on android, have you "rooted" yours? I feel like I will want to do that asap, but want to avoid bricking the phone.

I am sure that a case I feel is strong enough for the gym will come out soon.

No I haven't rooted it. Maybe at some point, but I'm not ready deal with the inconvenience of going back and forth between rom systems because it got stuck in recovery mode while attempting to crack it.

How does the app store work? Do you just enter cc info in to buy? How much does launcher pro cost?

Just trying to get the feel of this thing. Do you use it for mp3 player?
