I get to read about Albert Haynesworth being a drama queen again. This guy is making obscene amounts of money and has the nerve to say he is treated like a slave because the Redskins want him to move to Nose Guard instead of Defensive Tackle. Makes me sick...
I wonder what happens if I walk up to my boss... "You promised me a desk by the window! You are trying to turn me into a slave I don't want to sit by the stupid fax machines!"

Albert Haynesworth has made the news again and like every other time these past few months, it's not for anything he did on the field. This latest dose of inane chatter to breach his lips happened during an interview Saturday afternoon with 106.7 The Fans “The Kevin and Rock Show”. During this 15 minute interview, Haynesworth touched on the reasons behind his disgruntlement this offseason.
"I guess, in this world, we don't have a lot of people with backbones. Just because somebody pays you money don't mean they'll make you do whatever they want. I mean, that means everything is for sale. I mean, I'm not for sale," Haynesworth said. "Yeah, I signed the contract and got paid a lot of money, but just because, that don't mean I'm for sale or a slave or whatever.
"We agreed upon coming to that [contract] that I'd play defensive tackle and not nose guard and all that other stuff. I was signing with a 4-3 team," he continued. "It was a lot of promises and stuff like that.”
Albert continued to go on about the situation but did offer a silver lining to his fans that want to see him take the field and dominate.
“Now, it's been better, dealing with [defensive coordinator Jim] Haslett, and we run a lot of 4-3 stuff and you'll see that [Sunday]." Haynesworth said.
The firestorm, or mini-one anyway that is erupting from this is Haynesworth's use of the word “slave” in referring to him being told what to do on the field. Personally, that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is the whole context of the message itself.
Look, when you sign a sports contract with a team, you are at their disposal when it comes to any football related action. If they want you to be a nose tackle, you're a nose tackle. If they want you to hold pom-poms, you cheer your heart out.
It's that simple.
You are being paid $100 million dollars by the Redskins, Albert, and that gives them the right to tell you where you will be playing. It's called holding a job. I get that you're not happy with the situation, that you were told things that aren't happening, but that's just a little thing called life.
Life is fluid and like life, so is football, or any job for that matter. Some days you're going to have to do things you just don't like, that's the reality of the situation. And for the amount of money you are making, this really shouldn't be this big an issue.
I wonder what happens if I walk up to my boss... "You promised me a desk by the window! You are trying to turn me into a slave I don't want to sit by the stupid fax machines!"
