My next Vette...

The 2001 Z06 was a blast, and I sold it for more than I paid for it after a year. Couldn't have been more perfect. However I think having a vette as a second car would be so much more enjoyable. I still need something with a little cargo space to get through day to day life.

Hopefully in the next 5 years finances will allow me to get back into a Vette. By then, the 2010 Grand Sport Convertible should be under $40,000. It has the standard C6 Drivetrain with 430hp (75 less than Z06 but easily made up for with headers, exhaust, etc), but the same suspension, brakes, and body of a Z06. Only it comes in a convertible, unlike the Z06 Fantastic for Spring in South Carolina!

Right now I'm in a Mazdaspeed 3 with no car payment. It will be my daily driver / only vehicle for a few years. With the Vette G.S. being a few years off I'm really not concerned with what my daily driver will be. If the Mazda is still in good shape I'll probably just keep driving it. If not I'll probably go to an older SUV like a used 4runner or something.

Red is the best picture I can find, but I wont be getting another red one. Probably blue or black. This is a convertible, but with the suspension upgrades it handles better than the standard Vette coupes. I can't count how many days I wanted a convertible this summer.

The ZR1's will still be well over $60-$70K even when they are 6 years old. They are basically supercars.

A used 2007-2008 Z06 is a possibility too. I will probably test drive the Z06 and G.S. convertible to test the handling differences. If I can't tell that much of a difference I will definately give up 70 stock HP for a convertible.

They actually make a sick dark grey color in this. We will see. I have a few years to think about it unless something unexpected happens.

(but if I hit the lotto I will probably just go for the ZR-1 with an 2011 M5 daily driver.)

Yes the G.S. Conv. is a little heavier. (81 pounds to be exact)

But performance compared to the base coupe? Well.....

C6 Coupe:

0-60: 4.2 seconds
Skidpad: .96 G's

C6 Grand Sport Converible

0-60: 3.95 seconds
Skidpad: 1 G!!

Grand Sport Convertible is faster and handles better than the base coupe. Want to start getting out of the base coupe we are talking about the Z06 and Zr1 which has a completely different drivetrain.
