Great dogs. My ex and I had a purebread American Pit a few years ago. It came from a reputable breeder in my part of the state. Before she was 2 we had to get her put down because she was full of cancer in her left lung.

It's a crappy situation because I would love to own another one. They are the most loyal dogs ever. I just can't get comfortable with the idea of purebreads as I have had so much better luck with mix breeds health wise.

I absolutely love apbt's, however the 'bully' breeds disgust me. Some of them don't look too bad and are rather impressive looking in terms of muscularity, but for the most past they have completely strayed away from the standard apbt by exaggerating the bulldog side of it. The one male on that site looks like a bow legged bulldog/pit that's half retarded.

I prefer a lean and muscular traditional pit over those science projects.

yea you are correct the dog in this picture is strictly for looks and not bred to the ADBA or UKC standard. If you know much about bloodlines my dog is a jeep/redboy cross. Google "James Crenshaw Champion jeep" These bloodlines are the real deal. My bitch is 4 years old I am thinking about breeding her in the spring. There used to be a kennel in NC wildside kennels dude bred some of the best dogs around. He has a book out called the complete game dog its a good read.

Ya I have to agree. There is no way a realy APBT should weight 80-100lbs
althought they look impresive that is not the orignal design for them. I also think the bow legged thing is silly I hate that most.

lol, I hade a red nose female named Monster. And was she ever a monster bitch tried to kill everthing including my other pit.
she has 3-4 cats under her belt and 2 dogs that she fucked up. she had to go.
I will say she was defenetly a people dog though loved people to death.

A lot of pitbulls are like that if you study the history of the breed back when dog fighting was legal and a popular sport the dogs were bred to be only animal aggressive. The ones that were people aggressive were put down, now people breed for human aggression

Yea like guard dogs and shit originally they were just like a gladiator type dog and a handler had to be able to see to his dpg medically with out getting bit but all thats changed now.
