True: after he gets hit, he turns his head and exposes himself to subsequent blind shots to the temple and jaw, instead of staying squared up with his chin tucked so he can see where the shots are coming from and circle away from them or at least roll with them.

He also fucked up because he rushed things: when he took Cain down, he tried to pass guard immediately, and in doing so gave Cain the wiggle room to get back up. Had he just slowly and methodically grinded it out on the ground and worked to advance his position while striking like he did against Mir, it might have been a different outcome.
