The train pulls up EXACTLY ON TIME and stops PRECISELY in front of the marking. Car 4 stops right in front of the marking for Car 4... pretty amazing.

The platforms are marked for where the cars would stop and color coded (yellow for the nozomi shinkansen, red for hikari, etc.). Your ticket lists car and seat number, so you just line up in front of the marking on the platform.

Nozomi Shinkansen (fastest version of Japanese shinkansen) from Osaka to Hiroshima.... now this is what a train should look like... badass!!
