So what's the final word on the first episode? Is it worth looking it up on On Demand tonight?

Ok, the breakdown.
First Segment with the Viper VS the Helicopter:
Incredibly boring, edited and scripted. The hosts somehow managed to make a viper and a helicopter seem amazingly boring. Hosts had no chemistry at all in this segment. I would give this segment an F!
Second Segment (star in a reasonably priced car)
Buzz Aldren was the first guest. The segment was to short and it came across as disrespectful to Buzz. They asked him like 2 questions about rockets and space and then a few questions about cars. The question and answer lasted like 2 minutes at most and it felt rushed. I would give this segment an F!
Third Segment: (Lambo Comparison)
This was the best part of the show. For the first time the guys didnt seem scripted and stiff and they actually looked like they were just having fun. I would give this segment a B.
The hosts:
Tanner Foust, even though he is a great driver, is incredibly boring and just not funny. I would give his performance a D saved only by the last segment.
The Fat guy with the beard, again, just lame and boring. Not really interesting at all. I would give his performance and F. He is just lame.
The Italian guy, funny lines, insults etc.. seem to come more natural for him. I would give his performance a C.
Overall I was disappointed. I will continue to watch because simply put, it involves cars and that alone is better then most shit. You also have to remember that original top gear has had years to mature, when it first aired it was just as boring and the hosts did not click for awhile. James May wasn't brought on until season 2. Lets hope that Top Gear America continues to improve like the original did.Last edited by Bouncer; 11-22-10, 12:50 PM.

You would be right on 2 of them. But Tanner Foust (skinny white guy) is an amazing driver. Shame he is boring as fuck.Originally posted by Konitz View PostI never watched the original Top Gear, but that show on the history channel was just awful. I basically watched a car show show with two guys that do not know how to drive a car and one that can barely drive a car.

Side note: who thinks dvr'd will be the next verb to be placed in that lame ass american oxford dictionary?
watch it, knowing that when original top gear started they were garbage and had to dump one of their host.

What my main problem is that they have no-one that speaks to me saying " I know about cars." They are just spouting unintelligent facts like the viper has a "V-10 and can do burnouts durrh." I wanna know about things like engine/ chassis/ suspension design. Instead they insult my intelligence with a car doing burnouts.
Then to top it off they have Buzz Aldrin use a freaking Suzuki for the road-test they couldn't even use an American car for "American Top Gear"!?! The show failed in my eyes. I am going to check out The British Top Gear and compare results.

Alright so I watched. The show does have potential. As far as the hosts, the fat guy blows, Tanner Foust is meh, and Adam Ferrara adds humor but needs work on his commentary.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postdont watch it comparing it to the original top gear. you will be disappointed.

The Viper segement was lame. Great the Viper is an awesome car, but come on against a helicopter when you can only go 30 mph?
The "big star in a small car" was really lame. Like you said they only talked a bit about him being in space and all about his cars.
Now the Lambo segment was really good. That is what a car show is about. Speed, cool cars, balls to the wall. And the commentary for that segment was really good. Just need to replace the damn fat guy.
Now comparing it to BBC Top Gear: if those guys hosted that same exact show would have been 100x better. Those guys know how to host a show.
I listened for that and never heard them say that.Originally posted by dna9488 View Posti didn't watch it, but my friend told me about a mistake that came up. They said the Viper did 140mph in 2nd gear
