I was driving my wife's car today in the rain. There was a little incline coming from a stop on a side street and the tires kept spinning. She drives a 98 corrola. With snow coming soon I was a little worried. She has a 175 goodyear all season tire with good tread. Would changing them to a 185 all season make any significant difference?

Going from 175 to 185 is too small of a difference. At this point you would need to have a tire that has better thread. If you're scared, i would suggest getting snow tires for the winter time.
In a different case, if you were going from 175 to 205. Than you would be fine, that is a large jump.
On my Jetta, when I got new wheels, i went from stock tires (195/65/R15) to 225/45/R17. My traction was dead on, and with sticky summer tires I would corner much better. In the snow, rain, and cold weather (<50 degrees) I have traction issues, so i am just as good as your wife's car, lolLast edited by dna9488; 11-14-10, 05:28 PM.
