When my vote for the presidency actually matters and the presidents job is just to sign bills into law, companies like Kaiser who got us into the health care mess we are in are neutralized politically, then the government can have more say on what's kept confidential.

Maybe I wasn't being clear.
I support the role of a vigorous, independent and skeptical press. It is absolutely crucial to keep governments honest, accountable to the people and behave with a modicum of decency.
In this particular case, I don't think Wikileaks revealed anything of substance. I thought that it was sensationalist and did not particularly add anything useful. Moreover, I thought that the mock outrage that Wikileaks exhibited as though they were revealing some dastardly deeds of the US government was just poor theater - it revealed either sensationalism or a breathtaking naivete of how international diplomacy works.
I make no assessments about the legality of what Wikileaks did. I simply don't have the knowledge to know if any laws were broken.
