Research our own planet but never mind the earths home which is space?

It's like saying, research all you can about the heart inside the human body but who cares about the outer shell where the heart lives that is the human body.

I think one of the reasons grinder is so foolish as to disregard space as "pretty pictures" is that he doesn't believe the earth was created and made from the materials in space.

I think grinder is clouded by his bible belt roots and thinks the earth was made by god for man and space is just a bunch of mumbo jumbo.

That would certainly explain his ignorant dismissive attitude of space.

      The south...

Haha completely incorrect. I am most definately an agnostic. I truly can't wrap my head around creation by a God, and at the same time I have a hard time being convinced that "nothing was nothing but then turned into something". I personally believe that humans will never find out where we came from and why we are here. I compare humans finding out where we came from and what created us to fish in a pond knowing that we are out here fishing for them. For all I know we are all bacteria in the world of an entire separate existence of beings.

My argument is for the government funding of these "explorations". As I said before, the government's job is to protect it citizens, socially and economically. NASA contributes to that in some ways (satellites), and in some ways it is unrelated (water on Mars). The deep space explorations that are aimed at knowing more things, and discovering the unknown, should be pursued by those who can fund their own journey because they have the passion to learn such things. I believe NASA should have to make a case as to how each of their "explorations" will directly benefit the American Citizens who are FUNDING the trips. Because NASA has large government funding mixed with an unspecific goal like "knowing more about where we came from", the result is no accountability for failed missions and wasted tax dollars.

By the way, please humor me and do some research on Christopher Columbus. This is an argument that is brought up every time I have this argument. There are some big differences here. First of all, about half of his expedition was privately funded. The other half took him a few years to acquire from the Spanish government. The reason he was granted the funding was because he made a case to the government that this journey would benefit them. He was specifically searching for the first ocean trade route to India in order to speed up the journey, save money, manpower etc when they needed to trade for goods like spices, silk, teas, etc. The only reason that trip was funded was because Columbus was attempting to find a specific route that would benefit the Spanish Government.

If Columbus said, "Hey queen, I just want to go sail around because we have never been there before and I might find some cool shit, and I might not." She would have told him to go fuck himself.

          Enough of this friendly debate.

Exploration and discovery spear headed by the united states is part of what has made us great.

It can't and should never be stopped, as a matter of fact MORE money should be given to NASA. All funding to the southern states should be ceased and given to NASA.

And spare me with your tax payer bs being spent on NASA. You make like $7 an hour at Fucken southern jacks cookout, you have like $10 a year taken out on taxes, you don't pay shit towards NASA.

Now sit your ass down and stfu you southern shitbag.
