  • why cant people just be straight?

So I drive an hour and a half today to look at a care I won on ebay for the lady, described as faultless. I get there and there's worn through leather on the drivers seat, scuffed curbed alloy whell, so far I'm ok. Then my mechanic buddy takes it for a spin, comes back and shakes his head. He says it runs great but look. I look and the temperature needle is right over toward the red zone. He old drove it for 10 minutes and its the middle winter.

I say sorry dude I'm not taking it because I can't tell if its a faulty temperature sensoror something more serious like head gasket or water pump so I'm out, and I want my deposit back because you described it faultless and it has faults. He says ok and we drive home.

I get an email and he's returned some but not all through paypal, subtracting an amount for marketing costs?

I text him and tell him to pay the rest and that in facrt the finance checker and petrol it cost me to get there on the basis of his incorrect description exceed the marketing amount he's outa pocket. Now he's paid up but I just cannot fathom how the apparent majority of people operate. Just petty shit

All the information was there bro. Service history mileage blah blah, I coulda lived with the smaller things but he must have know about the temperature gauge and said nothing when I asked him early on if there were any problems. Its just so dumb and a waste of time.

A temperature gauge needle hanging over to near red when it should be dead centre is a definate red light bro. It could just be that the sensor needs replacing but it could be warped following and overheat meaning a busted head gasket and much money to replace cylinder head. It was an audi tt and tbh I've had enough of them. Were buying her a golf tommorrow lol

UK and Euro VW's are different than US.
