  • It takes a stone set to rob a casino

Now he has to figure out a way to change the chips into cash without being caught

Bellagio Robbery: Motorcycle Thief Steals $1.5 Million in Chips | ThirdAge

A Bellagio robbery that took place in the posh Las Vegas resort today, saw a male armed bandit make off with $1.5 million in casino chips.

No one was injured in the robbery, but Las Vegas authorities have spread the word about the situation in fear that the crimes could continue, eventually leading to more violent situations endangering workers and patrons of the casinos.

The thief escaped on a motorcycle. Authorities believe he may have committed a similar crime in the area, less than a week ago. Police say the man involved in the Bellagio robbery stole chips ranging in value from $100 to $25,000.

They say he walked into the casino with a gun, at 3:50am, robbed a craps table and sped off into the night, wearing a jumpsuit and a bike helmet. Police suspect the same man robbed the Las Vegas Suncoast Hotel & Casino poker room about on December 9.

In this incidence, the thief also sped away on a motorcycle. That heist netted less than $20,000 from a poker room cashier, police said. Gordon Absher, spokesman for Bellagio owner MGM Resorts International, says casino chips aren't the same as cash. "At some point they have to be redeemed," Absher said.

So are the chips RFID tagged or serial numbered?

If not he could just sell them for a percentage and let the buyer trickle them back to the casino over time.

I thought about the serial numbers. Since he grabbed them from a table I am sure that most of them are no sequential and thus would be of no use to the casino.

I never thought about that being tagged with radio frequencies.

Nope chips are just like any chip no way to identify execpt the face value but as said he has to pawn them off lil by lil for probably 50 cents on the dollar but still a good days work, lol
If he dumps them all off at 1 place he has a chance but if he tries to do it himself he will get snitched on sooner or latter
