See this is why you are an idiot. RIM did not outsell everyone most of last year. Where did you get your facts from? RIM was 5th in the market share in the third quarter of 2010 alone. It is not #1 anymore. Nokia even outsells RIM. RIM is a dinosaur technology that does not want to advance itself. In less than two years from now it will go the way Palm just recently did. Only reason RIM is still around is because companies do not want to switch over until they've gotten their money out of BES.

I think owning a blackberry is seperate from other phones. I agree that most users are part of a cult but that is why blackberry will never go out of business. Another thing that blackberry had that most phones now are doing is the fact that you can switch from blackberry to the next and not have to adjust much. In other words their interface stayed pretty much the same over the years. That's why companies and the government continued to use them, they didn't have to continually make new programs to accomodate new phone OSs. They offered a wider variety of products when other companies just started doing so.

No the reason for this is when RIM started out with their BES everyone had to pump a shitload of money into using it and if companies back out now they'll feel like they got their asses burned. The switch over to new phones and OS's would be a very simple change and can actually be done over a short time span with no interruption. Apple and Google have it built into their mail app to use exchange server which most companies are on to begin with.
