  • DNA molecules can 'teleport', Nobel Prize winner claims

A Nobel Prize winning biologist has ignited controversy after publishing details of an experiment in which a fragment of DNA appeared to ‘teleport’ or imprint itself between test tubes.

According to a team headed by Luc Montagnier, previously known for his work on HIV and AIDS, two test tubes, one of which contained a tiny piece of bacterial DNA, the other pure water, were surrounded by a weak electromagnetic field of 7Hz.

Eighteen hours later, after DNA amplification using a polymerase chain reaction, as if by magic the DNA was detectable in the test tube containing pure water.

I have not read about his experiment and I can't speak to the quality, but as a scientist, I will hold my opinions until another lab reproduces his results.

But I will say that Luc Montagnier has turned into a fruitcake, indulging in various activities of dubious scientific merit .... there's nothing sadder than the decline of a world-class mind. :(

Dabbling in homeopathy, among other things. A good debunking of his work there can be found here:

BTW, the sciencebasedmedicine.org website is a great one to read - has lots of information on quackery in the medical arena, which as we know is full of charlatans, mountebanks and "researchers" of dubious talent and even worse intentions.

            Sample contamination.

Are we suppose to assume he got the same results more than once? It reads as if he got one result and then tried to repeat while adjusting the variable but never went back to the original protocol.
