Sitting in the huge lobby of my hotel in Tokyo waiting for the shuttle bus to Narita to show up....

I could pretty much identify each and every American in the crowd there - without exception, they were obese mofos... every fucking one of them. Why is it that people from every other country can maintain the minimum level of self-discipline required to stave off obesity except us? Gawd.. I hate travelling abroad because I always come back pissed off and depressed.

I saw a bunch of white guys if that's what you mean. The fatties were all Americans. Not a single thin white guy was American. I saw a few Hispanic looking dudes - Americans. Yep, ethnicity didn't matter much.

point is, i dont think you would notice the skinny american because your not looking for them. would you notice someone that looks like you? you are skinny and you live in america.

is america fat?... sure. but so is most of developed Europe. i have a hard time believing you can tell the difference between some fat english guy and some fat america.

I agree that others are getting fatter as well but right now, the comparison is not even close, bro.

I tell you, I have been doing a lot of work-related international travel recently. Most people abroad are not overweight at all. Some fraction, say 20% are carrying say 10 or 20 lbs around the waist that they probably ought to lose. Virtually nobody is OBESE, the giant 75-100lbs plus overweight specimens that we see so commonly here. It is actually pretty eye opening.

my point is, how do you know the obese ones you are seeing are american? are you talking to them?

also, like i said above, you arent seeing the skinny americans because they dont stick out.

I never said that.

I said that every fat fuck I saw in that hotel lobby was an American. So, it was just a sample and cannot be extrapolated to the more extreme statement that I have quoted above. But the point still is that every obese guy in that crowd was American without exception (about 7 or 8 guys who were at least 75 lbs overweight).

Were there skinny Americans in that crowd? Perhaps.... I didn't do a poll. But my observation was that just about every fellow with an American accent was easily 30-40lbs overweight. Not skinny fat or slightly paunchy as many middle aged guys worldwide are likely to be, but full-on grade-A fat.

how do you know some of them weren't a Brit, a Frenchmen, a Israeli, a Canadian etc...

are you staying at a hotel where mostly americans stay?

Look, I was in a hotel lobby that had a couple of hundred people walking around, about 90% Japanese. There were maybe about 25-30 non-Japanese people in the lobby. Most were white, although there were a few hispanic looking guys. They were in 3 or 4 groups so I pretty much know based on their accents where they are from. I have done enough traveling and listening to be able to pick accents well - if they are speaking English, I can tell if they are US or Canadian, Aus vs. NZ, where in GB/Ireland they are from and if they are from Europe, which general area (France vs. Netherlands, vs. Germany vs. Italy vs. Scandinavia vs. Eastern Europe).

So, yeah, I had an hour to kill and I pretty much figured out where they were all from based on their accents. The fact that Americans tend to speak louder than most made them stand out too.

So, in summary, STFU.. :rofl:
