  • What would you do in this situation?

So you order something and they say hey you get free shipping and it's guaranteed by such a date. You take the free shipping because it will get here. Now granted the date is two weeks away, but hey what when shipped in the continental US takes two weeks?

So finally a week before it's guaranteed the item gets shipped. They ship it ground from the west coast and say it's gonna get here the day they guaranteed.

Well now it's not coming until the day after it was guaranteed by. Yes it's not the end of the world that you're not getting it the day they promised, but a promise is a promise.

Would you call the seller and bitch? Seller is a big company too, not some small business.

      Timma,

I would write a polite email explaining how you love the company and their products, have always been treated right by them, and how their service is usually top notch. This time the delay caused you to not have the chance to use the gift for a birthday/aniversary/etc.

Follow with you hope you can work together to solve this problem.

The above tactics got me a $50 graphic tee and a $50 button down a little after Christmas. It also got me some gift cards worth around $20 from two other places.

The big key is to come off as upset, but willing to work with them. If it seems like you are just pissed off and want free shit, they may ignore you. But if you state you want to continue to utilize their service/products, you'll be surprised what companies will do so you don't work your complaint up the chain of command

That's good advice thanks. Someone here mentioned also to wait until they definitely get here late and use the phrase "How are you going to make this right?"

I don't like the bolded phrase above. It seems demanding on compensation. The simply act of replacing you with we makes a world of difference. You will make them defensive, we will relax them.

Just an FYI, ground shipments have been delayed a lot the last few weeks from the middle of the country east due to all the bad weather. At my work we have had to do a lot of problems solving for next day air shipments that are refrigerated drug also, being held up because of the weather.

I figured that too. Only thing is they waited a week before shipping it.

i've tried doing something similar and it pretty much work in all but one occasion. sometimes in the fine print it says "arrives 5-7 days from shipping date" and the shipping date may not happen until 1-2 weeks after the order date. this specific company uses amazon to sell their product and it took close to 3 weeks to get something that was guaranteed 5-7 days. i will never buy from them ever again.
