By any reasonable measure, gun violence in the United States is off the charts relative to other modern Western industrialized societies. Let's assume our goal is to bring it in line with other countries. What is a reasonable set of laws that can be enacted to make this happen?

Let's assume there are 3 categories of undesirable events - 1) crazies getting guns 2) criminals getting guns and 3) responsible people getting guns but not knowing how to use it/store it/, etc.

Can 1) be solved by rigorous background checks and wait periods that are enforced? Not sure what can be done about 2).... How about mandatory classes for all gun buyers to address 3? This could be financed through a license fee probably.

I am interested in rational responses - let's try to focus on the goal to make gun violence to be in line with say Finland, another Western country with a very high level of gun ownership but to the best of my knowledge, much lower gun violence.
Never gonna work bro there are ways around back ground checks. I am a 2 striker and have more guns than most. I am not a threat to anyone with my guns but I do have them and always will I dont care about the law. Now that is me I am not a crimnal anymore (over 20 years ago)but just think what the real crimnals must have or the way they think.
