Why do phones start going bad?

Is there something that actually starts breaking down in the phone or is it just that the older the phone gets the less compatible it becomes with the service provider?

The only part of a phone that has ever gone bad for me is the battery. Not really sure what you are talking about.

It seems that the older a phone gets the worse the connection may get. For example my phone didn't drop a call ever for the first year or so. Now it will drop a call almost once a day. Connecting on line is less reliable also.

i have to say i've had only battery issues like bouncer. i would have kept my phone from 2 years ago if i wasn't so damn picky. that thing still works. but i guess it also depends on the build quality itself. some phone models aren't made to last as long as the next.

agree with the two above. The only phone that acted up on me like the way your described was my Motorola Razr (AT&T).

Other than that, no issues.

As time goes on electronics begin to deteriorate just like everything else. Plus cell phones have very cheap parts in them.
