Should I root my droid?

I'm with BLM.... not too familiar with Droids, but it took me a lot of time to read up and learn how to JB my iPhone and the main reason I did it was for unlocking it for overseas use and to tether with a JB app. I had a lot of experience modding Moto RAZrs, editing hex tables, etc. but each phone is different. You've got to put in the work to learn how to do these things right and for most users, it is not worth the time and effort, and of course, risk.

I have that use already, the droid 2 full name is droid 2 global. I can use it over seas, it will just cost a different amount. I even got a European charger adapter in the box. I also got one that looks like a dryer plug, but have no idea what country that is for.


As for rooting/jail breaking, they have zip bundles out there that all you have to do is download those to your computer, hook up the usb adapter and then run the exe. file. It does the rest for you.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. If it won't increase the speed significantly or extend the battery life, the only other thing I would want to do is remove some of the default apps. I don't think it's worth it just for that.

i honestly want to do it and then overclock the memory. but i am going to have someone who knows how to do it better than me work on that.

and bouncer, the captivate is what i have for ATT. the droid is definitely different in terms of interface but they both are really similar. the only differences i can think of it the screen and flash.

I wouldn't bother with it if AT&T would give us the unlock code for the phone after 90 days of a 2 year contract, like it does with every other phone. In fact, they refuse to give the unlock code for the iPhone even after the contract is over and the phone is technically the property of the subscriber with no strings attached. That's just plain wrong. Also, if they would allow tethering without charging an arm and a leg for it... but AT&T wants to gouge the customers for every last nickel, so JB has done well for me.
