My inlaws are not super religious by any means, but they believe in god and all that other garbage. My father in law's cousin is a priest in the area. Me and my wife got married last year by my brother in law (did the online thing), but my inlaws want to have a huge thing which is going to happen next month. My father in law always wanted to walk his daughter down the aisle (side note: aisle looks weird doesn't it?) so we decided to do a renewal of vows ceremony and his cousin will do it at his church. Then have a huge party.
I met with the priest a few months ago, good guy, but very sick so he retired a month ago. We discussed how I was divorced and all that jazz. He told me that for some reason I needed to get a hold of my old marriage license. I asked why and he never gave me a straight answer. He then asked me why i don't go to church and I was very straight and to the point and explained why. Heard later he was surprised at how I didn't hold back lol.
Well we are supposed to meet with him tomorrow to finalize everything and i've been putting off getting the paper because I have to travel like 20 mins in the middle of the day to get it. Today I looked online to find out how to get it. Turns out I have to drive to the Department of Health to get it and will cost me $45. He still never gave me a good reason that they need it either.
$45 for some piece of paper that is null and void and is not necessary for a renewal of vows ceremony. Yeah fuck that noise.
