You deal with it the same way you'd deal with your girlfriend blathering on and on about something you really don't give a fuck about. You just let your mind drift, letting it in one ear and out the other while occasionally contributing an 'mmm-hmm', 'uh-huh', 'you don't say', 'interesting'....ect. Your mom obviously needs to vent, and it'd be great if you can be there for her on real issues, but if it's just idle crap like gossip about her neighbors, then you just treat it like ambient noise and pretend to be listening when you're not. You've been with Sana a long time...you should be an expert at this by now :)

Also, keep in mind that she carried you for 9 months and cooked your meals and washed your shitty drawers for many years....10 minutes on the phone, no matter how annoying the conversation, isn't all that much to give back. How you let it affect you to the degree it does I don't know, but that's fixable by gaining the proper perspective.

weird thing is, my mom loves me to death, thinks i am about the best thing since sliced bread.
