  • You guys want to lower your auto insurance rates? Do this...

So my auto insurance every 6 months has been creeping up higher an higher. Was up to $1,190.00 per 6 month period for 2 cars. I decided to get a quote from a few other insurance company's to get a ball park of how cheap I could get it. Anyway, Geico for the same coverage as my current insurance gave me a 6 month quote of $995.00 per 6 month period.

So I took that $995.00 geico quote and called back my current insurance. I actually told my insurance geico had offered me $905.00. LOL. My currect insurance put me on hold and came back on the phone with all these discounts that they were not giving me before. Final 6 month policy comes out to $900 per 6 month period. In other words, I made up a number and my current insurance undercut my made up number by $5. lmao.

Bottom line. I was paying 1,190.00 per 6 month period, now I am paying $900 just because I told my insurance that another insurance company was cheaper. Almost a $300 savings for a 5 minute phone call..

Give it a try. Cant hurt.

Try the same thing with cable, satellite, newspaper deliveries, etc. You will be surprised how low they will go to keep your business.

yup, i made a comcast thread awhile back with the same sort of issue.

told comcast i just dont watch tv and wont pay almost $200 for cable tv, DVR, and internet. they came back with a "$100 a month year long promotional deal."

every year i call up and say i wont pay the $200 a month and they give me the same deal. lmao

i think most people just call around for the cheapest rate and go with whoever is cheapest. not realizing that you can go back to your current insurance and have them beat the cheapest rate. not only the cheapest rate but a made up cheapest rate! :weights:

I do that to get paid more at work too. Hahaha. I got the yearly increase at my current job and I have barely worked there for 6 months.

tried something similar with comcast, and they didn't budge the price. It worked before, but not now.

I cut my cable off. Fuck the cable companies. All are overpriced with terrible customer service.

So true...it's amazing how well they'll treat you when they think you're about to walk.

Did you ask to be put through to the department that handles cancellations? They have more power than the customer service reps
