      Quartz.
A "hot" piece of granite can contain high levels of uranium (b/c there mined in the ground together), not only is it radioactive but releases radon gas. If you have to get granite bring a geiger counter with you to c if its radioactive.

sorry to break the bad news. in general the light color granite is suppose to be the worse. ppl had to have that shit ripped out. I would get a radon test kit.

I've ordered starlight black quartz, heard about the radioactive thing but there's radio activity in lots of things and the granite was generally found to be at non harmful levels. The quartz is supposed to be hareder waring and the starlight colour is awsome

You can get pics on internet of starlight black but in practice its all about contrast, we're having off white painted oak cupboards and probably a mushroom painted wall, quartz will run up onto window sills with upstands and splash back the same. The starlight hass mirror flecks in it and with the wall hung cabinet down lighters dimmed a little it should look well
