The size of the trees is freakin' AMAZING and awe inspiring

Obligatory tourist trap picture - had to take it though! :)

Yeah, I've been up to Seattle and spent a short trip to the Olympic Peninsula, but certainly not enough time to do it justice. Olympic National Park is fantastic.

Another place that everyone I know recommends as a must-see are the San Juan Islands - need to get there sometime.

Amazing scenery. Where I live is minutes from 101 fwy (so cal part of it) I can take 101 from my house and drive to redwoods straight up. It'll take a while of course. :D

Yeah, it is amazing how big the state of California is. I once drove from Bakersfield to San Fransisco straight and the freeway went on and on and on. This was 25 years ago in the days before the internet and google maps on smartphones, so I just had my Rand-McNally folded up in the seat next to me and I would look at it every half an hour wondering if I would ever get there.

San Francisco has a microclimate all of its own. You NEVER go to San Francisco without a jacket or a sweatshirt. When the fog rolls in, it gets really chilly. Very different from the rest of the Bay Area, especially silicon valley which can get very hot.
