So sana wants this thing for work.

Gimmick or good value and function?

She wants the smaller hard drive one that is $1234.99

Few key points. We have a windows netbook but it is kind of thick when folded and she wants it to fit easily in her bag.

The windows netbook has only an 11 inch screen making certain windows not fit on the screen all together. The res is just to low.

The netbook is just a bit under-powered and she needs to have multiple programs running at once.

It is just like any other Apple product - very stylish and unique looking, but I can't think of a worse performance per dollar ratio. Basically, you pay a premium for the Apple brand.

        A challenge for you.

Find me an ultra lightweight 3lb or under notebook with at least a 13inch screen with the kind of res the macbook has. (this is important because of the multiple windows she needs open. On the netbook we have the windows are just to small because of the lower res and small screen size.) Needs to be as powerful as the macbook and needs to be as easy to fit into her shoulder bag and haul around the city. Find me those 3 needs in a package under $1235.00 like the apple is and we will gladly take a look at it.

There probably isn't, at least not unless you go to Akihabara. Apple has no peer in researching the market and figuring out how to design their products to appeal to specific segments. My only point is that you will pay a premium for that and the machine will be underpowered and less capable for the dollar.

Get it. You are paying for the Apple brand, a stable OS, and a extremely high build quality.

Scrum is correct, the performance per dollar ratio is TERRIBLE, but you want a nice sleek and lightweight laptop, and the Air is perfect for that.

Yea in terms of performance the Mac has more power then she needs for just multiple window work and email. The real issue with her is the screen res and size in such a small light package. The netbooks screen doesn't cut it.
