  • DVT (deep vein thrombosis)

is nothing to mess around with.

I've been having pain in my calf for the last few days. It felt hard and sort of like a muscle that had contracted, but wouldn't release. I didn't have redness, heat, swelling, etc - but something just didn't feel right. I went to the doctors today knowing they were going to tell me I'd pulled a muscle, and it's a blood clot.

Don't ever let those "classic" symptoms fool you!

Just blood thinners, hopefully? Did you fly recently? Or sat for a long time (hours)?

I have to give myself shots in the stomach for the rest of the week, then switch to orals for the next couple of months or so. Also have to repeat ultrasounds. It's becoming pretty uncomfortable to stand or anything. The blood pressure in the leg goes way up and can't pump it past the clot.

No, because of my age they think I have a genetic blood disorder that my father has and that's what would cause it. I had a bunch of blood taken today to find that out.

Once it's all taken care of you should get your ass on daily fish oil. Thins the blood

Taking Lovenox? I hope you have decent drug coverage, those things are so overpriced.

I'm guessing the shots are Fragmin? Hope they work for you.
