With all that said, while I agree with you mr I about how the animals should be treated, I don't believe that is why you started the thread at all. Animals are treated cruelly in many parts of the world by many groups of people. I do believe, MR I is tyring to say "humane" killing..should be a quick killing, Not where leathal damage is done to the animal, then it's still aware of its surrounding and slowly dies. It should die instantly so as not to be aware and suffer.

before halal slaughterhouses were established, most muslims ate kosher meat. the killing is essentially the same.

i am all for a quick kill but who's going to regulate that? the reason why most places go for the jugular is to save themselves the time of draining most of the blood themselves. i'm not saying one way is better than the other but that's the rationale behind it.

It's not just kosher meat. Not that long ago Australia suspended it's live cattle export to Indonesia after a journalist was able to report on the methods the Indonesian slaughterhouses were using. Animals were being beaten, having their legs slashed, water poured down their noses etc.

The story was called "A bloody business" by four corners. Check it out on youtube.

There are only a small portion of slaughterhouses in Indonesia who actually use stun guns and comply with Australian standards. I'm sure this isn't just Indonesia either..
