Frankly that shirt doesn't look too much different from the bushes. If it is for visibility, why not a bright orange? A plaid pattern doesn't exactly stand out. I thought it might be for flotation or something because of all the water, but it didn't look like it was for that.

I've been around lesser mortals all my life, so if my IQ was susceptible to getting diminished by association, I would be a raving imbecile by now. :)
