  • Restless Legs

I don't know how much more I can take of this. I'm not big into "syndromes" that drs seem to create at an exponential rate, but after nearly 10 years of dealing with the symptoms associated with what's labeled as RLS, I'm about to lose my mind. It's gotten progressively worse this last year. It doesn't matter how much or how little cardio or exercise I do, what or when I eat or drink, etc. It just won't go away.

I can't even begin to recall the last time I had a full nights sleep. I fall into short deep sleep cycles but I always wake up at some point with the damn crazy legs. Sometimes once or twice others up to 7 times in a night. Ghrp and zma have helped make those periods of sleep deeper but not enough to stay asleep.

Anyone else ever have issues like this?

Sorry if I am asking the obvious, but have you had a full blood assay done recently?

Not recently. A few years back, but nothing was abnormal.

I notice you talk about pre workout supps and other caffiene based stuff like that. Try cutting all that out for a full week and see what happens. Key is to calm the nervous system.

Honestly I have done that for weeks on end with no change. I never consume any caffeine after 4pm. I don't consume it daily for energy or exercise purposes. Hell a bag of coffee in my house lasts 3 months or more. I've had the same container of NO Explode for over a year. I haven't used and aas in 9 years.

I've had it for a bit but nothing like what you have and what helped me the most was kind of meditation once I was in bed. What I realized I was tensing my legs right around my knees so started to practice breathing and relaxing my muscles from head to toe and it helped me immensely.

Just give it a shot. Close your eyes start taking couple of slow deep breaths relax your face muscles as much as you can unclench your jaw :D (I realized my jaw was clenched tight) then continue to your neck, shoulders, chest, arms etc all the way to your toes.

It's really amazing how you all of a sudden would feel like flood gates are opened and you can feel your blood flow in your legs.

Do you drink lots of coffe? From what I read to much caffeine also might cause it too.

I would recommend a blood panel, just to see if you are having an iron deficiency or anything like that. Sometimes, those things can mess up your nervous system.

                    Stressed?

Blood panel and if everything is good then a neurologist.

Like Scrum said, I'd have your iron levels checked. Have you tried warm baths, massage, relaxation techniques before bed? I believe you can be prescribed medication they use for Parkinson's and neuropathy patients. Could help, but then you're stuck taking a rx med every day.

maybe you have to to hit it from a few angles. i have issues with really tight muscles in my back squeezing nerves and that = massive pain.

my game plan before bed is to take something like a valarian root type calming supp, then i get in the shower and use water that is a hot as i can stand it, you need it so hot it almost takes your breath away a bit. the hot water is huge in forcing you to calm down and just release all that tension etc.. finally, i get out of the shower and put extra strength muscle rub (strong version of bengay) all over my upper back. this 3 prong attack makes it much easier for me to calm down and relax and sleep.

When I had the blood panel in the past they were questioning my iron levels, but they came back normal. They questioned my caffeine and alcohol intake and had me eliminate it for a month (not much to eliminate really). They told me to stretch before bed and recommended muscle relaxers. I adhered to everything but the meds. I HATE pills! It didn't change or help. The 2 different scripts they use for rls that are used for parkinsons disease, 50-60% of patients develop insomnia, lol.

I'm going back for blood work and in the meantime I'm going to try some valerian root, hot shower, and stretching.

put on the muscle rub for good measure. pulls blood into the area, may do something for you.
