  • Fatty at work

Real smart guy, PhD from MIT. At least 100lbs overweight.

How does a guy like this not have the ability to reason with himself on his health choices and make the right moves to fix his weight problem?

He doesn't think the work it would take would be worth the reward.

I get that, but the inability to do the cost/reward rationalization is inconsistent with his intellectual abilities. Moreover, grad school is a lesson in pain and postponing gratification, so you would think that someone who spent 5 years in grad school will be good at it lol...

He sees that the majority of the population is obese and most people seem to do just fine while being overweight.

A little different. He couldn't really "be" anything, get where he wanted, without school. What's being thin going to get him? (Besides what should be obvious, lol) HIS obesity isn't due to lack of intelligence.

Trust me, I'm with you! However, it seems most people aren't willing to sacrifice the yum.

sometimes is just about your interest. he is able to do what he does because he is interested in that subject.

if i am asked to do something that i am not interested in, i have a very very hard time putting any effort into it. that none interest outweighs the benefits in his mind.

In other words he is lazy??? I don't see how his intelligence has anything to do with it. Sometimes the smartest people you know can be the dumbest.

There is no reason other than a medical condition why someone shouldn't be in shape imo
