This boat doesn't seem to take on much water. Little bit of a rough ride out, but great on the way in. Just hot as hell! Today we were out at the drag races. I think I've had enough sun to last me all summer :hang:

Oh, the King that won the tournament was a 58 pounder

I'm not experienced enough to know the difference. But everything is better in Florida

Rip - you ever come to Florida? The Keys?! You haven't seen good waters til you go there!

I have fished from The top of SC to the keys all the way around the Gulf To Biloxi Missisippi. I fished the SKA trail for 5 years on a full sponsership till this country started on a down hill run and the fun money ran out... I also ran a charter service here in georgia for that same period of time. I got out of it when folks didnt have as much play money for fishing trips that they used to. It wasnt worth staying in the business any longer.

Fishing both coasts of florida is different as well as Georgia and SC, the Gulf is a whole diffrent ball game and when you get over Mississippi/ LA side..I dont think anything can beat that.. best fishing we have in America IMHO...

We can catch MOST of the same species in all places, but the running time is the BIG difference. For example..mahi, tuna wahoo sailfish marlin...I can catch them here in GA..and North FLA but its a 60 mile to NE FLA and an 80 miles run offshore in georgia just to get to the start of the fishing grounds. South florida..go a mile or so off the beach still look at the high rises on the beach,,,,and catch them.... so its not BETTER fishing...just easier fishing if you will. Due to the longer runs I dont target those species as much as I would like to. I normally stick inside 30 miles and target different species..a lot less money, wear and tear on the boat and more fishing time...after doing it for years.. I got smart and do this now instead of the long runs 3 hours out and 3 hours back and deep pockets for the same kinda fun.... Now I run one hour out and one hour back fish a lot longer and reduce the cost by 2/3's..LOL I have gotten smarter as I have gotten older..

How many miles do you go out? And what's the depth you're fishing at?

Fitt, where I was fishing saturday was about 23 miles out. I was in 55 to 60 ft of water. To hit 100 ft of water I have to run to at least 40 miles out. To the gulfstream its an 80 mile run from the beach. thats just to the ledge though about 140 to 160 ft. And then as you know the father I run east the deeper it'll get till it hits the abyss...

top of the gulf is like that as well..longer runs to deeper water.... Most of west Fla is a good run as well.

Wow, you do have a hike to get to the deep. We were 23 miles out also, and that was about 180ft for us.

You're right though, you go down to the Keys and go that far and you're in well over 1000 ft.

yea and over half way to the islands...LOL:thumup: Thats the funny thing I used to tell my clients when I was chartering. I would say to them after we hit the 100 ft mark and start fishing..."folks we are about 40 miles east of the beach..had we left out of miami or west palm beach..we would be going thru customs for the islands" : they would always look at me with a WTF look:rofl::rofl::rofl:
