  • My boy training for Louisville Fire/Rescue

He is trying to get hired on the fire dept. its a rough course you have to pass..he said the worse part is running with the mask on can't breathe home boy he said. He is a big boy naturally so maybe that plus his time in the gym/size is gonna make it harder for him I hope he makes it.

Looks like good strength training. How's his cardiovascular fitness? Need to make sure he is not ignoring that as I am sure the selection criteria would involve running of some kind.

Thats his problem he's been running more and getting better. He was big and bulky bout 230 or better then he lost some for this. He said the problem is he runs out of air with the mask on before the end of the course he has to take it off or pass out period. He has to make through this or its over. I think the weight loss has helped a lot he quit lifting so heavy and is natty right now so like I said hoping he makes it

yup thats the problem tell him skip all the strength training as a fire man is not strong but has to be athletic with endurance. he needs ploymetrics and HIT. like if he was gonna train for a fight. you have to run up these stairs forget how many levels carrying a hose and even a dummy that will take muscle conditioning and cardio. nothing better than plyometrics

yep agreed...kinda like how we had to stay in shape in the army strength plus endurance... if ya cant keep going ya aint gonna make it.

Good luck to him!!! stepping up to serve on the FD is to be commended:thumup:

Its the best the job if you have to work full time. Have fun, stay in shape and interact with people which can be fun at times. I hope he gets in.

Your boy looks like a bodybuilder. Most bodybuilders won't pass this type of test. This is more of a crossfit type workout which most bodybuilders are horrible at.

                            Fire rescue?

He needs to practice TV remote control drills, grocery shopping and recliner pulls.
