  • sleep apnea

I finally went and had a sleep study done a few months ago because I never felt rested. So during the study I stopped breathing like 90 times though out the night. So I have this machine now to force air in my nose and keep the airway open. But, I have not made it a full night with the mask on yet! You can't have your mouth open when your wearing the mask or it feels like you're suffocating and I get all freaked out and have to tear the thing off!...LOL The Dr. just keeps telling me to keep pushing and I'll get used to it but it doesn't seam to be getting any better.

Anybody here have any experience with this? It really is taking a toll on me. I saw a article about some sort of surgery they can do for it and I think I'm going to look into that. Just curious if any of you might've felt with this and maybe used something that was successful.

My exH and my brother both have sleep apnea. I always say there is no way in hell I could sleep with that thing, but you really REALLY need to. Sleep apnea will kill you. Rather it be high blood pressure, whatever, it is serious. Once you get used to it, you are going to notice a world of difference. Even nights you think you're getting rest, your body is not because it is constantly battling just to breathe.

Keep trying. Some is better than none until you get used to it!

That was my fathers issue with sleep apnea. Poor cardiovascular health and overweight.

He works road construction in Pa and loses weight and gets in better physical condition during the summer while working and rarely has any issues. Then he gets laid off for the winter; becomes less active, eats like shit and drinks like a lush and has sleep apnea issues and has to sleep with a breathing mask.

He was 19 when he knocked up my 17 year old mom, lol.

He's as tough as they come bro. Old school blue collar, beer drinking mountain man. Quit school in 7th grade to work farms and coal mines to help put food on his families table. Couldn't pass a simple written test but he could build or rebuild anything mechanical or carpentry.
