Thats a valid concern with this purchase. I hope that's not the case. Sort of goes against what google represents but in the end it's all about money and power.

Won't happen. One of the reasons it took this deal a long time to get finalized. Google has already stated it will be offering 5 flagship jelly bean phones this winter direct. I am sure one of those will be a motorola handset, yet Samsung, HTC, etc will still continue suporrting the android OS.

The only thing they stayed was that they promise to keep it open for 5 years.

They make a killing selling licenses for their OS. They would lose revenue and lose long standing relastionships with many brands. They could close it all off, but IMO I don't see it happening.
