What do you guys use? I am putting a system together and need to purchase something. Every review site disagrees with the other, so there does not seem to be a clear consensus.

I can get McAfee Internet Security for cheap through work, but the one thing every site appears to agree on is that it is a turd lol...

Microsoft security essentials is all I use. I have never had an issues with spyware or viruses since I started using it.

I think Essentials is awful. I got burnt a few times with it. The virus disable the program and wouldnt allow me to uninstall it even in safe mode. I had to rebuild the pc. THe active scanner doesnt catch shit. I use Symantec End Point Security. Ya get what ya pay for

yeah i felt the same way ran it for yrs. put it on all my famileis PCs etc. told everyone to use it. they're all computer tards so i have to help them. on at least 3 occassions it failed to protect or allow me into the PC. its just not good at malware, spyware and active proction / scanning or PCs already infected (when I get them). i gave up about a year ago on it.

its not a problem until it is a problem lol.

I don't disagree with jack. However for most users it is sufficient. Where symantec is to complex, intrusive, and a resource hog. My favorite high end security software was kapersky. It was very in depth, hands off, and transparent. Yet effective. I haven't used it in years.

When it comes down to it, no one is safe....

I have Malwarebytes for spyware and stuff. Best product out there for that. For virus software, every review site disagrees with the other.. one thinks Kaspersky is the bomb, the next one things it is shit. All of them agree that Mcafee is a turd though, which is the one I can get from work.. :fight:
